Fillings help to restore the tooth's structure, function, and appearance, preventing further decay and protecting the tooth from damage.  

During the procedure, the dentist: 

• Removes the decayed tooth tissue 
• Cleans the cavity 
• Fills the cavity with a material such as composite resin (tooth-colored).
